The “Southwest hydrogen corridor from Portugal to Germany” is one of the eight “Energy Highways” announced on the GP. The Energy Highways address the most urgent energy infrastructure needs that require additional short-term support and commitment for implementation to address a diverse range of bottlenecks that hinder progress. The Energy Highways will enhance energy security, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, integrate more renewables into the grid, promote electrification, decrease energy prices, accelerate the implementation of REPowerEU and help Member States adapt to the phase-out of Russian fossil fuel imports.
